On floor joists with Wood 22 with four side T&G
1. Floor Joists
2. Insulation, Joist Insulation should fill up the entire joist cavity.
The joist cavity must be sealed to prevent heat from escaping.
3. Slotted Board Wood 22, with four side tongue and groove Dim.
1800 x 600 x 22mm with “Tongue & Groove on all four sides.
Slotted Board Wood 22 has 3 slots c/c 200mm suitable for use with
Heat Distribution Plate 16 and Universal Pipe 16mm
4. Heat Distribution Plate 16L=1150mm, W=190mm.
5. Universal Pipe dim. 16mm
6. Slotted Turning Board Wood 22Dim. 400 x 800 x 22 or
595 x 800 x 22mm
7. Vapour barrier and cell foam/ rag board
Wood 22 – Is specially designed to reduce the water temperature in timber underfloor heating systems. Due to the HEAT being “above” the 22mm Loading Bearing floor the energy savings are enormous! A typical 22mm wood flooring will hold back around 8°C therefore requiring a higher flow temperature which will result in increased energy consumption. Wood 22 however is designed to reduce energy consumption and reduce flow temperatures of the Underfloor Heating System.
With reduced flow temperatures Wood 22 is now an ideal partner for low temperature heat sources, such as Air Source [ASHP] & Ground Source Heat Pumps [GSHP] with flow temperatures equal to that of a screeded system around 35°C your Heat Pump’s COP will drastically improve!!
Wood 22 – Is a moisture resistant 22mm chipboard flooring laid at 90° to the joist direction or laid over an existing level deck.
Our engineers will then make bespoke routes into the boards to receive the Aluminium Heat Distribution plates and or pipe work in accordance with our design and layout drawings.
Final Floor Coverings;
CARPET – A thin layer of Ply or Hardboard [5mm] should be laid / stapled to the topside of the wood 22 to separate the heating from foot traffic
LAMINATE / ENGINEERED WOOD FLOORING – IF laid floating or fixing a vapour or anti-squeak Polythene layer should be laid first
TILING – A 12mm Hardibacker or form stable board should be laid to strengthen the floor. A detra mat style layer may also be preffered by your Tiler.
